Outdoor Trash Compactor

Reference Guide

Help with finding the right Outdoor Trash Compactor.

Compacting Dumpsters

Main Benefits and Features of these Compactors:

1. Theoretically each of these compactors can replace 4 - 5 of the standard traditional dumpsters since they achieve a compaction ratio of 4 to 1 or 5 to 1 depending upon trash profile. The 6 Yard Compacting dumpster will hold roughly 25 - 30 cubic yards of trash before it needs to be 'tipped' by the hauler.

2. These Compactors are designed to be utilized (or 'tipped') by either Front Load Hauler trucks or Rear Load Hauler trucks.

3. For customers already using traditional dumpsters, these compacting dumpsters can be an excellent step towards reducing waste hauling requirement significantly especially where existing procedures are already built around dumpster usage and locations.

Vertical Outdoor Compactors

Main Benefits and Features of these Compactors:

1. The Vertical Outdoor Compactors are especially useful when hauler access is difficult but an outdoor compactor is necessary. Two of the models (2 yard & 3 yard) are available with casters on the containers so that the full containers can easily be wheeled to a location that is convenient for hauler 'tipping'. With the larger models OSHA prohibits the casters so if they are to be moved (for the convenience of hauler tipping) this must be considered. Oftentimes extra containers are purchased so that an empty container can be placed in the compactor while the full one is awaiting pick-up.

2. These compactors can also be placed adjacent to a building and chute fed through a wall so that employees do not have to walk outside to make trash deposits.

Pre-Crushers / Compactors

Main Benefits and Features of these Compactors:

1. Pre-Crushers / Compactors are designed with tremendous force that a Stationary Compactor does not offer. These Crushers or Compactors are built to crush pallets, appliances, electronics and other bulk materials on a volume basis.

 2. The Pre-Crusher Compactors operate similar to a Stationary Compactor with the exception that there is an extra step (crushing the materials against a huge steel plate) before the trash is forced into the detachable (or break-away) receiver / container that is also utilized to hold the compacted trash.

3. The containers that work in conjunction with Pre-Crusher Compactors must be highly reinforced in order to withstand the tremendous force that is applied.

Stationary Compactors

Compactor

Main Benefits and Features of these Compactors:

1. Stationary Compactors are best utilized for dry waste such as paper and cardboard.

2. These compactors work in conjunction with a large break-away or detachable receiver container that is hauled directly to the disposal site.

3. Stationary Compactors can also be fed by a chute such as an air handling system (in addition to the typical manual feed) container is full.   When the receiving container is full it can be easily detached from the compactor for hauling.

Self Contained Compactors

Main Benefits and Features of these Compactors:

1. Self-Contained Compactors are best utilized for wet waste in situations requiring no leakage.

2. The Stationary Compactors are similar to the Stationary Compactors in that the compaction takes place in the chamber area and then the compacted trash is forced into the receiver container until it becomes full.

Small Self Contained Compactors - 'Mini-Packs' (6 yd & 4 yd)

Main Benefits and Features of these Compactors:

1. Just like the traditional Self Contained Compactors, these miniature Self-Contained Compactors are best utilized for wet waste situations such as restaurants.

2. With the mini-packs they are tipped onsite by the Front Load Hauler trucks versus the container being hauled to the disposal site.

3. Since the footprint is so small versus a traditional Self Contained Compactors these are excellent choices where space is very confined.

Compactor Bins - Portable

Main Benefits and Features of these Compactors:

These compactors can be utilized Indoors or Outdoors and the Main Benefits and Features can be viewed under the Indoor Compactor Reference Guide.

CB-4900 - (Palletized Trash Cube Using Polybags)
CC-2900 - (Using Front or Rear Load' Container)

Outdoor compactors can substantially reduce waste hauling requirements. Choosing the right type of outdoor compactor depends on many factors such as trash volume, accessibility for haulers, how it will be fed, overall security and housekeeping considerations, and many other circumstances. With the right product, paybacks can be as little as one year or less.
