eWaste Center, Inc. (EWC) will be holding an e-waste collection and recycling event at the Oriental Mission Church?s (OMC) parking lot located at 424 N. Western Ave. Los Angeles, CA 90004 on November 19, 2011 from 9 am to 3 pm. Residents of the surrounding community will have the opportunity to drop off their old end-of-life electronics (that old TV set that?s taking up space or the outdated dust-collecting computer), any old electronics lying around, to have them properly disposed of for FREE. By recycling their outdated electronics, an opportunity will be given to an individual allowing them to eat a warm and nourishing meal. Proceeds from the collection event will be donated to the LA Mission to aid their efforts in their Annual Thanksgiving Dinner for the Homeless event.

The refuse from discarded electronic products, also known as e-waste, often ends up in landfills or incinerators instead of being recycled. Improper disposal of these outdated products also leads to the exportation to third world countries where strict environmental and labor laws are not present, allowing toxic chemicals like lead, cadmium, and mercury that are commonly used in these products to contaminate the land, air, and water. Located in Commerce, CA eWaste Center, Inc. is dedicated to disposing of these products in a safe and ethical procedure that adhere to the guidelines and regulations of California?s Department of Toxic Substance Control as well as the United States Environmental Protection Agency and is certified by both agencies as a recycler of electronics waste.
