The PortaPack Drum Ready Compactors are very simple. Upon positioning the air driven compactor system over a typical 55 gallon drum all it takes is activation of a button / lever. Compaction ratios of up to 8 to 1 are attainable depending upon trash profile.
Operation is Simple, Convenient and Safe. (Two handed operation is necessary.)
Compressors that are sold at all major outlets is all that is required to generate the proper force for compaction. Basically a compressor with just a 20 gallon tank and 5 HP motor producing roughly 80 - 100 PSI). The Drum Ready systems have Two Hand, No Tie Down Actuators, spark resistant compaction plates and the units meet O.S.H.A Requirements. The only difference between Model PD-55-6 and Model PD-55-8 is that the PD-55 either comes with a 6" cylinder diameter or an 8" cylinder diameter (which produces roughly 2,600 more pounds of force) for a better reduction ratio.
Note: These compactors are not designed for crushing glass containers or items that may shatter or contain volatile vapors.
OPTIONS AND ACCESSORIES:
8" & 6" Cylinder:
Wheel Kit Add-on - Side Mounted Wheels for easy mobility of the Compactor - The typical application does not have the wheels shown in the photo since the wheels are not meant to be used for transporting the compacted waste. Generally a forklift, drum dolly or other material handling equipment is used to transport the compacted material. When the drum or box of compacted trash becomes full it can usually be positioned on the material handling equipment in a routine manner.
6" Cylinder:
Easy Open (Latching) Container - When utilized, the latching system of this container allows customers to quickly and easily remove the compacted contents without having to empty the contents from the top.
Easy Roll Out Base: - Sliding base allows for an easier way to access the full drum of compacted waste for transporting to its desired location. (Cannot be used with Wheel Kit).
Wet / Sorbent Basket - Basket hangs inside any open top 55 gallon drum so that waste fluids can be squeezed out of adsorbent materials easily and safely.
Compressor - A 20 Gallon, 5 HP Compressor (generating roughly 80 - 100 PSI or up to 150 psi) is all that is required for operating this compaction system.
